The French Government introduces a new labeling system to better understand the important environmental information to consumers. The participation of the textile sector is expected in this project.

The French Government has announced the starting up of an information campaign from July 2011 that pretends to inform about the sustainability degree of the products consumed in that country. It will introduce a new system of labels that contains icons with information for the consumer about the emissions of carbon dioxide emitted to the atmosphere, and the water consumption or the toxics waste generated by the production of the consumption product, among others.

The implementation of this new project will be done within different businesses, among which the textile sector stands out. In this way, clothing consumers could base their purchase decisions on ecological or environmental matters, which could be known through the new label.
